Global Health Delivery Specialist

The Global Health Specialists will pursue the following objectives:
- Support the development of the clinical, teaching, and research skills of current and future Rwanda faculty and health care professionals
- Support the creation of a strong cadre of trained health care professionals in Rwanda to meet local patient care needs at district, provincial and referral hospitals
- Provide key contributions to establishing a research agenda for the overall HRH Program and encourage research partnerships between leading Rwanda investigators and US-based academic institutions participating in the HRH Program
- Provide key contributions to establishing a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Quality Improvement (QI) agenda for the overall HRH Program and advise on implementation strategies based on the achievement of pre-identified outcome and process indicators, and on the evidence of which approaches are working optimally and which are not
- Collaborate with and support leading Rwanda investigators within the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) and other research institutions in identifying research priorities and coordinating grant applications and research projects involving non-Rwandan research partners
- Collaborate with and support leading Rwanda investigators in their development of locally relevant research protocols and curricula, and provide mentoring and training at the graduate, post-graduate, and continuing professional development levels to Rwanda trainees
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Advisory responsibilities (30%):
- To collaborate with and support leading Rwanda investigators within the RBC and other research institutions in identifying research priorities for the HRH Program
- To collaborate with and support the RBC and other research institutions in aligning research projects/grant applications with the expertise of investigators from Rwanda and other US academic institutions participating in the HRH Program
- Educational responsibilities (40%):
- To collaborate with and support Rwandan investigators in their development of locally relevant research protocols and curricula
- To participate actively in research mentoring and seminar-based teaching in collaboration with Rwandan investigators, clinicians, health managers and health policy educators
- Research (30%):
- To seek and pursue funding for research projects related to the HRH Program that are to be conducted in partnership with leading Rwanda investigators and investigators from other US-based academic institutions participating in the HRH Program
- To conduct research and analyze data related to the HRH Program in partnership with leading Rwanda investigators and investigators from other US-based academic institutions participating in the HRH Program
- To consolidate the knowledge gained from research activities and data analysis related to the HRH Program by drafting and seeking to publish peer-reviewed manuscripts in partnership with leading Rwanda investigators and US-based academic institutions participating in the HRH Program
Qualifications:
- MD or PhD required
- Professional experience in cross-cultural and low-income settings is strongly preferred
